BPCL receives tax order worth ?1,817 crore from Kochi Central Excise authority is drawing significant interest across the industry.

State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation has received an excise order from the Commissioner of Central Tax and Central Excise, Kochi, confirming a total demand of ?1,816.65 crore. The demand includes ?476.94 crore in duty, ?1,339.70 crore in interest, and a penalty of ?95,000. The matter relates to 19 show cause notices for the period September 2004 to May 2010, with the major portion pertaining to the pre-merger period of Kochi Refineries from September 2004 to August 2006.
